Manchester United Target Premier League Striker, But Should They Stick With Hernandez Instead?

David Moyes has had a mixed start to his Manchester United tenure, and I, as a Manchester United fan, have been supportive every step of the way. However, with the Mirror reporting that the Scot is looking to throw some money at Aston Villa for goal-getter Christian Benteke, it’s left me feeling a little puzzled about the future of Javier Hernandez.

Moyes is worried about losing Wayne Rooney in January, although in my eyes it wouldn’t be a terrible thing to get the sulky forward off our wage bill, and wants to inject a youthful striker into the side. But when you have Robin van Persie banging them in, still only 30, as well as Danny Welbeck, 22, as well as Chicharito, 25, it’s not as if any of them are about to retire and leave him in trouble in that area of the field.

Hernandez scored 10 goals in 22 games last season and created another 14 chances. Although Benteke scored 19 in 34 games, is it worth spending that much money on the Belgian?

Hernandez is one of the most natural finishers in European football and would thrive off the number of chances that United create, but Moyes doesn’t seem interested as a result of van Persie leading the line.

It’s akin to the situation with Shinji Kagawa in the midfield. Why the Japan international isn’t starting every game is a mystery, especially when Tom Cleverley is looking jaded already.

Please David, if you’re reading this – I know you are – give Hernandez his chance to shine. God forbid he shows what he can do for a different club.
