Manchester United Target Midfielder Who Completed 90% Of His Passes Last Season – The Statistics

When Marco Verratti signed for French money bags Paris Saint-Germain it caused a bit of a stir with some. The 20-year-old is labelled as one of the most exciting Italian prospects and many wanted him to continue his progression in Serie A. However, the move was done last summer, and he had another impressive season last time out, both individually and as part of the PSG set-up, and helped guide the capital club to the Ligue 1 title. But could the Italian topflight see him back sooner rather than later?

TalkSPORT are reporting that Fiorentina fancy themselves as the suitors to the young midfielder, but they’ll have to fight off interest from the Premier League and La Liga, with Manchester United and Real Madrid also considered in the running to secure his services.

Last season Verratti played 27 times for PSG, accumulating a pass success of 90%. His shot accuracy stood at 100%, although he took just one pop at goal. However, it is his defensive actions which sees him so highly sought after.

The midfielder won 51 of his 65 attempted tackles, won 17 of his 24 take-ons and made an average of three defensive actions per game.

He also grabbed four assists and made an additional 15 key passes during his league winning-season.

What do you reckon United fans? Is this the replacement for Paul Scholes?
