It’s been a year of adjustment for Luke Shaw. The teenager made a name for himself in the ranks at Southampton before progressing into the first team, where he now played 32 games. Now, after some sensational performances for the Saints, and also in the national youth set-up, it seems as though the ears of Manchester United and Chelsea have pricked up and will go toe-to-toe to secure the teenager’s services.
Or so say the Daily Star, anyway.
But is he worth the £12m that he is currently valued at?
The 18-year-old has played three of Southampton’s four Premier League games this season, missing only the loss away at Norwich, and has impressed in all three.
His efficiency in his duels are clear for all to see – Shaw has won 67% of his tackles, 67% of his headers and has completed 100% of his take ons.
He has completed 11 clearances and carried out three blocks, and the one strike that he has had at goal has hit the target, which is all you can ask for from a left-back.
Surprisingly, though, Shaw is yet to make a key pass this season. The boyhood Chelsea fan made 10 last season in his 25 Premier League game, and many were expecting his to push on with the attacking side of his game this term.
Chelsea vs Manchester United – will either of them get their hands on this star?
