Despite splurting a huge amount of money on Mesut Ozil in the summer, The Sun are reporting that Arsenal still have £50m to spend on strengthening their squad this January. But who should Arsene Wenger be looking at? Here are three players I believe should be getting his attention.
1) Luis Suarez – Liverpool
Yes, he comes with a load of baggage, and yes Olivier Giroud is in fine form. However, when you take into consideration that the Uruguayan scored 23 league goals last term despite the amount of controversy and missed games, surely if there’s a chance of capturing the forward Arsenal will take it? He also offers flexibility, which isn’t something the Gunners hold too much of up top.
2) Ilkay Gundogan – Borussia Dortmund
For me, the Germany international is one of the most well-rounded central midfielders in world football. He can play in a deeper role, destroying opponent attacks and spraying balls round the field, or he can push further up and use his creativity to slide balls through to the forwards.
With Wilshere in questionable form Aaron Ramsey has stole the headlines, but it’s a long season.
3) Kyriakos Papadoupolos – Schalke
The big Greek defender would be a perfect asset for the Emirates side, in my opinion. He’s strong, good in the air and can play a bit on the floor. He’s currently injured but is well on his way back, and when he’s in full flow there are few more appeasing to watch.
Who would you look to buy?
