Our footballing word has been dominated by two men for a number of years now. No, I’m not talking about Alan Shearer and Mark Lawrenson, I’m referring to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. After years of incredible performances, goals, skill and a huge amount of accolades, you’d think it’d be hard to out-do the pair in any sense. However, the man who currently sit on top of the La Liga goal chart for this season – albeit we’re still in the opening stages, is Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa.
Here are three reasons why the 24-year-old would be a snug fit in the Arsenal side.
1) Composed
As mentioned above, the striker is brilliant in front of goal. He has struck eight goals in his seven La Liga appearances – including the winner to sink Real Madrid in the derby last week. An acquisition in January could prove hugely beneficial to their silverware hopes.
2) Potential
The Brazilian is still only 24 years of age, which is hard to believe. He seems to have been round forever, and the millions that it would take to get him to the club could prove a very worth investment.
3) Giroud-esque
Olivier Giroud is on fire right now, but it’s unlikely that he will perform to these standards for the whole season. His legs will tire, his form will inevitably drop at stages and the Gunners will need a plan B – which could very well be Costa, who stands at 6ft2.
