10 Facts On Arsenal’s £32m Striker Target

After Italian sources claim that Arsenal are after Porto forward Jackson Martinez, as well as Napoli, here are 10 facts about the£32m striker.

1) Jackson Arley Martinez Valencia was born in Colombia and signed on as a youth player for Independiente de Medellin.

2) In 2009 Martinez led the club to their fifth league title and was named top scorer in the league with 18 goals.

3) Overall, the forward played 148 games for the Combian club and scored 63 goals over five seasons.

4) In 2009 Martinez joined Mexican side Chiapas and spent three seasons with them, scoring 37 goals in 80 games in all competitions.

5) After interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, Martinez then signed for Porto ahead of the 2012/13 season.

6) In his first season the bulky forward scored a 34 goals in 43 goals for the Portuguese side.

7) This season Martinez has scored three goals in three games  at time of writing.

8) The 27-year-old has made 22 appearances for Colombia, scoring eight goals.

9) So far in his career Martinez has won five major trophies, including the Portuguese league title and cup last season. He also won the top scorer accolade.
