With 84 goals in his 148 games for Borussia Dortmund, Robert Lewandowski has established himself as one of the top strikers on the European stage. The Poland international struck 36 goals last season for the Black and Yellows but is widely expected to leave the Signal Iduna Park when his contract runs out at the end of the season. But where should he go?
Every man and his dog expects him to sign for Bayern Munich, but Sky Sports have reported that he is yet to decide where he will be scoring goals next term.
Cue the ears of numerous clubs running to the bank to gather up their millions to temp him.
He would be the main man should he join the Bavarians, as he’s a different calibre of player to their current first choice Mario Mandzukic.
Should Manchester United make a bid, then it would surely end the stay of Mexican goal-getter Javier Hernandez, who is struggling to secure any first team action as it is. Danny Welbeck would likely continue in a wide capacity while Robin van Persie and Rooney rotated with the Pole, ending in tears for one of them, I would imagine.
Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with Lewandowski. The latter, in my eyes, provides the perfect stage for him to shine in the Premier League as he is acres ahead of anything they have available to them. Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o are both on a steady decline, where Demba Ba is already at the bottom, and with the plethora of creativity sitting behind the strikers it would be brilliant for the BVB forward.
Arsenal currently sit top of the English topflight and have an in-form Olivier Giroud to thank for that, but they need additional firepower.
After all, Nicklas Bendtner isn’t going to win you the league, is he?
Where would you go, if you were Lewandowski?
