What Is Liverpool’s Strongest XI?

A fine start to the Premier League sees Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool sitting top. But what is his strongest 11? Here’s what I think.

Simon MignoletGK

The Belgian keeper has had a fine start to his Reds career, keeping three clean sheets in his opening seven games.

Glen Johnson – RB

Although injured right now, the former Chelsea defender has been brilliant over the last year and deserves his spot.

Daniel AggerCB

Liverpool’s Mr consistent has had another fine run of games despite having to adapt to new partners. The 28-year-old has averaged six defensive actions per game so far.

Kolo ToureCB

A move away from Manchester City is just what the big Ivorian needed, and he’s been impressive so far in Merseyside.

Jose Enrique – LB

The Spaniard’s played all seven games and created eight chances, as well as winning 7/10 tackles.

Steven Gerrard – CM

If you were to describe Liverpool in a player, then it would be this man right here. With a 61% duel success, an 85% pass completion and 10 chances created, no one is dislodging Gerrard.

Lucas – CM

Opinions vary on the Brazilian, but I like him. He averages seven defensive actions per game and has completed 89% of his passes.

Luis Suarez – RM

Although Suarez is at his best up top, in my opinion, Sturridge’s form and the Uruguayan’s desire to dribble and run with the ball sees him out wide in my team.

Philippe Coutinho – CAM

The creative hub of the team. He’s completed six chances this season in his four games, but 20 in 13 games last term, as well as three goals.

Victor Moses – LM

Moses has played every game since his loan move and has created three and scored one. He also has an 80% shot accuracy, which is one of the strongest at the club.

Daniel Sturridge – ST

Six goals and five chances created in his seven games. Need I say more?
