A closer look at the £7m striker with 14 goals in 14 games interesting Arsenal and Liverpool

In football, if you score goals consistently at the top level you can expect a host of big name clubs to become interested in your services, it’s as simple as that. Managers around the world are always on the search for someone who can lead their frontline, and Kostas Mitroglou may have shot himself into the big bucks. The Daily Star are reporting that both Arsenal and Liverpool are looking to sign the forward, as well as Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund. But who is he?

The 25-year-old has gone about his business in impressive fashion this season, scoring 14 goals in 14 games for Greek outfit Olympiakos. The reports suggest that the striker would cost the clubs a reasonable £7m – I say reasonable as clubs spend up to 15 times that for a player these days, but it’s still a lot of money to gamble on a player who has made his name in a weak Greek league.

He started his career in Germany, though, in the youth ranks of Borussia Monchengladbach. He played a year in the reserve side before packing up and heading back to his homeland with Olympiakos, where he has now scored 60 goals in 142 games.

He has also scored five goals in 26 games for Greece.

He’s a powerful striker who thrives in the box. His strength allows him to push and pull defenders out of position and his composure ensure that he can score any any circumstance. He would add a lot of mettle to any frontline he joins and will certainly score goals.
