3 Potential Victor Valdes Replacements For Barcelona

As Victor Valdes supposedly gets ready to say his goodbyes this season at Barcelona, here are three goalkeepers who could potentially take over.

1) David De Gea – Manchester United

The Spaniard has overcome the criticism that was thrown at him during the early stages of his Manchester United career to become one of the finest shot-stoppers in the Premier League. His slight frame allows him to fly across the goal with minimal effort and he is quickly learning how to take command of his area.

Still only 22, it would probably take a huge bid for United to accept, but could the lure of returning to his homeland to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world be too much?

2) Pepe Reina – Liverpool

Another Spaniard now in Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, who is currently enjoying a season-long loan at Serie A side Napoli. His form has dropped significantly over the last few years and the Reds brought in Simon Mignolet from Sunderland to replace him, but it has picked up again under Rafa Benitez in Italy.

The 31-year-old is coming into what should be the prime of his career and could be a shrewd piece of business considering his distribution abilities.

3) Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea

The young Belgian is now in his second year-long loan at La Liga side Atletico Madrid and the Camp Nou side will know exactly what he’s about. He is expected to be Petr Cech’s successor but his experience in the Spanish topflight may have a say in that.
