3 Big-Name Strikers Who Could Be On The Move In January

When it comes to January and the transfer window opens again, the excitement isn’t as great as it is in the summer, despite the fact that any player could move in that month. I’ve compiled a three man list of strikers that could make the January 2014 transfer window the best ever.

When a transfer involves a striker, it’s usually big money touted and when a bid for a striker is received in January. The price goes up due to the fact that selling a player in that month is rather inconvenient for the club so they’d want to be compensated. However, if the player is in the last year of his contract then a cut price offer may be put in because the club want some money for him.

January is a difficult month but it’s one that should be looked forward to just as much as the summer. Remeber when Fernando Torres was bought in January all that time ago?

1. Robert Lewandowski

Has he signed for Bayern Munich? Hasn’t he? We’d all love to know the answer to this question that has actually provided us with answers but many of them which is the problem . One minute he’s signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern, the next he’s being offered to English clubs for a £10-£20 million.

Whatever happens to Lewandowski, he is an incredibly gifted striker that could walk into any team in the world. 13 goals in 19 appearance are some statistics, you can also throw in the fact that he also has 6 assists which shows he’s a team player as well. The Pole will be on the move soon, his destination unknown. Sounds like a start of a horror film.

2. Karim Benzema

Slightly less sought after than Robert Lewandowski, but a big name player that has a history of consistently scoring. However, his place in the Real Madrid team in coming under intense pressure from Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez as well as the growing speculation surrounding Luis Suarez and the La Liga giants.

The Frenchman has featured in 12 La Liga games regardless, scoring 6 and assisting 4 which are actually very good stats. Arsenal were apparently offered Benzema for a price of £20 million over the summer and into September but there was nothing concrete in these rumours. At a price of £20 million, Karim is perhaps the biggest striker you can get for that price.

3. Luis Suarez

The player that could end Benzema’s career at Madrid could end it as soon as January if the La Liga giants do try and sign him, which they apparently tried to do over the summer with no success. Suarez has obviously returned from that ban that kept him out at the start of the season but since his return, he’s been absolutely fantastic.

8 goals and two assists in 6 Premier League games is just incredible and in the eyes of many Liverpool fans, well worth the wait. Brendan Rodgers was determined not to let go of Suarez over the summer and will be determined again in the future but a massive offer from Madrid may turn his head if he feels it’s for the good of the team.
