Arsene Wenger is having a pleasant time this season. Not only do Arsenal top the Premier League, they also sit aloft of their Champions League group and are looking spectacular while doing so. But there are still gaps in his side that he will need to address in the new year if he is serious about claiming a trophy, and the main one looks to be in attack.
Olivier Giroud is having a fine season, scoring five league goals in his 11 outings, but he starting to look tired to me, and with Nicklas Bendtner the only man in reserve Wenger needs someone to come in.
That’s where Alexandre Pato’s name arrives into the mix, as the Express report that the north London side are interested in his services. But what is he about?
It’s rare that you find a forward who is as strong as he is quick, but that is exactly what Pato is. The rapid Brazilian has shown why he was rated so highly a few years back before his slump at AC Milan since his move back to his homeland and has also rekindled his composure in front of the onion bag.
He is able to sit on the shoulder of defences, spin off opponents or even drop inside to collect the ball.
He’s a similar player to Giroud in terms of his movement and is also adept at beating the keeper.
Still only 24, Pato is on to score his 100th club goal this season with Corinthians to add to his 10 for Brazil in the 25 caps that he has earned.
Arsenal could do a lot, lot worse than the South American, and this clip will show you a glimpse why.
