Wilshere Wants Arsenal Captaincy – Here’s Why He Should Have It

Jack Wilshere is a player who has progressed right from the bottom of the Arsenal set up, and now he is eyeing the captains armband, according to Sky Sports. For some, Wilshere isn’t even good enough to warrant a first team spot right now, but to others he is the die hard, dogged Mr Arsenal whose loyalty to the club should be rewarded with the skipper’s armband.

For me, it’s a bit of both. Although Wilshere’s performances have been a bit iffy so far this season, partially because he has been played out of position, his love for the club can only be a positive thing.

The 21-year-old has been part of the Arsenal set up since he was just nine years old and has flourished in every aspect. Now, after maturing into one of the finest young midfielders in the league, he is certainly someone who the younger players can look up to and strive to follow.

Wilshere now has over 100 Arsenal appearances under his belt and 13 England caps, which is no mean feat considering he has missed so much action due to injury, and his self belief, his hunger to win game and his leadership qualities on the field would stand him in good stead for being captain, in my eyes.
