Romelu Lukaku was drafted over from Belgium in 2011 as one of the most promising young forwards in Europe, and Chelsea were keen to nurture the teen. Since his time at Stamford Bridge he has been loaned out to both West Brom and Everton – both of which he has scored freely for – and not had any real chance to make an impact at Chelsea. But now, in perhaps surprise circumstances, it now seems that Arsenal are going to be in for his services sooner rather than later.
Last season Lukaku had a bigger effect on the Premier League than anyone would’ve imagined. He went onto score 17 league goals for the Baggies during his season-long loan and was a huge reason as to why they surprised so many teams last year.
His strength, his ability in the air and his positioning were all impeccable, and we could tell how much of a talent he was.
Switching to Everton, a team who were perhaps looking to finish in the top eight in the league, Lukaku has started brightly. He has so far played eight games for the Toffees and scored five, as well as putting in some sterling all-round performances.
Lukaku is the textbook target man – he has every attribute to make it at the top and a switch to a side like Arsenal could really propel him to the next level, as long as he got time on the pitch. Still only 20, Lukaku has a long, successful career to look forward to, but at which club looks unclear.
