Julio Cesar is a five-time Serie A winner, a Champions League winner and has 76 for the Brazilian national side, but he now finds himself in the English second division with zero appearances to his name this season. The 34-year-old was part of the Queens Park Rangers side that was relegated to the Championship last season and is yet to appear this time round, but his west London misery could be over as the Metro report he will be available on a free transfer come January, with Arsenal lurking.
Arsene Wenger brought in Emiliano Viviano on loan from Palermo in the summer to add some competition between the sticks, but Wojciech Szczesny has had a fine start to the campaign and he hasn’t had a sniff.
Cesar has eight seasons with Flamengo and seven with Italian giants Inter and should be coming into the best years of his career shortly. Signing him on a free transfer would be a brilliant move for the Emirates side – he showed just how much of an impact he can have last season with a string of incredible performances.
Redknapp said: “He needs to play and I feel he’s a player who could play for any team in the world.
“We won’t stand in his way. We’ll let him go for free.”
