It’s fair to say Manchester United aren’t having the greatest season to date. They have already lost three and drawn three from their opening 12 games and sit seven points behind Arsenal in the Premier League, and some fans are starting to grow frustrating. But how can David Moyes kick-start their season into action and find some continuity in the form?
Here are my suggestions.
First up, I think the wings need a re-shuffle. Ashley Young has done nothing to suggest that he will be able to make up impact this season – winning just 3/10 of his take ons and completing just four key passes. I think January is the perfect time to offload Young and inject some youth into the wings, with Adnan Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha on either side, with Antonio Valencia in reserve.
Next I think it’s important to reinforce their midfield, and I think Ander Herrera is the man that they need. He has the mobility, the energy and the creativity that is needed to link the midriff to the attack and we know that Moyes is also a fan.
The Athletic Bilbao player is a box-to-box player who loves to get around the central areas and help with both defensive and offensive duties – he has made 15 key passes this term and completed 17/24 of his tackles.
For me, offloading Young, getting Zaha involved and signing Ander is what is needed to turn United into real contenders.
