This weekend saw another goal from Newcastle forward – albeit on loan – Loic Remy. Not only did he help Toon climb to eighth in the league but he also shot himself to fourth in the Premier League top scorers league. For me, he’s exactly what Arsenal need in the final third of the pitch, and here’s why.
Not only has he scored eight goals this season in the topflight, but he has also made 12 key passes. He is a speedy player who loves playing on the shoulder of the opposition backline but he can also threaten from distance.
He’s scored twice from outside the box this season and created the majority of his chances from around the edge of the area, and seven of his 23 shots have been from distance.
This would allow him to link up nicely with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla, and whoever comes in on the right of midfield.
He would also benefit the Arsenal front line because of his pace. The Gunners often spring forward on the counter and need quick, shard players who can break with intent and purpose – something that Remy can provide.
He can also play to the north London side’s strengths as he has completed 83% of his passes.
For me, this is the man Wenger needs in his attack.
