Podolski Back In Arsenal Training, But Where Will He Fit Into Wenger’s Current Side?

According to the Express, Lukas Podolski has returned to first team training at Arsenal and will be back in contention soon, although not in time for the Gunners’ match against Marseille in the Champions League tomorrow. But when the former Koln man does come back into the mix up, where will he fit into the side?

Podolski can play in two positions, left wing or up top, but with Santi Cazorla currently operating on the left he may find it difficult to force his way back into the side. Perhaps plopping him on the flank and pushing Cazorla over to the left, with the Spaniard interchanging with Mesut Ozil could work, as they both have a delicate touch to them.

Olivier Giroud will undoubtedly be happy with his return, as he now has someone to give him a break up top. The French striker has appeared in all of Arsenal’s league games this season as Wenger has no viable replacement up top, apart from a sluggish Nicklas Bendtner, so to rotate can keep them both fresh.

Etiher way, I think it would be best for Wenger to ease him back into the set up. He has scored twice this season in his two league appearances, but he may need a beddin-in period.
