Manchester City have been rampant at home this season, scoring 26 goals and conceding just twice, but have been let down by their shoddy away record. They have lost four of their six ties away from the Etihad and won just once, and as a result they sit six points behind leaders Arsenal. So, being the perfectionist that I am, I thought that I would suggest a few ways how Manuel Pellegrini can sort his side out and maintain their title challenge.
First up I would say that James Milner needs to be more involved in the away ties. Sticking a defence-minded midfielder on the wing would help out the full-back and could tighten their backline, but he can also deliver a brilliant ball.
Secondly, despite Vincent Kompany on his way back to action I think they need a new, athletic centre-back who can play the ball out from the back. The defender who I put forward as a candidate is Eliaquim Mangala. The Porto centre-half is a real powerhouse who fits the bill, and he’s still only 22 years of age.
Yaya Toure is the ultimate midfielder, I don’t think that many can argue about that. He has everything in abundance but for me he he is at his best when he is operating just outside the opposition box. If Pellegrini can find a way of utilising this then I think the title will be City’s.
Toure has scored five goals this season while making 13 key passes and completing 91% of his passes.
