Manchester United have travelled to Germany ahead of their Champions League tie with Bayer Leverkusen this evening, but I really do fear for the Red Devils. With Cardiff landing the latest blow to David Moyes’ men and the injuries that the squad currently have, as well as the scintillating form that the Germans are in, I am certain that they will be travelling home without a share of the spoils. However, here are a few things that I would suggest the former Everton boss tries to make that statement false.
Firstly I would suggest that they have to sacrifice a striker and pack the midfield. Marouane Fellaini is injured and Michael Carrick is injured, as is Phil Jones, so perhaps a midfield five of Cleverley, Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney will be necessary.
Although a dodgy-looking line up, I don’t think they can get away with letting Leverkusen boss the midfield.
I also feel as though they need to double up on Sidney Sam who has been a real handful this season in the Bundesliga. Not only has the Germany international scored seven league goals but he has made 38 key passes .
In conclusion, play Shinji Kagawa, pack the midfield and double up on Sam.
