Striker On The Verge Of Chelsea Move – Player Report

When Chelsea fell to a 1-0 loss at FC Basel the other night it only strengthened in my mind that they need a new frontman. Samuel Eto’o looked hopeless when he was on the pitch, and then when he went off injured Fernando Torres was even worse, though he had just come back from injury. It’s been a common theme this season, the strikers have been awful in everything they’ve done, so it cheered me up when I saw the Metro were reporting that my beloved Blues are on the verge of signing Jackson Martinez from Porto.

Martinez is a natural finisher and score score from a range of different positions, which is something that Eto’o, Torres or even Ba can do. He’s strong, good in the air and his link up play is superb.

Last season I was keeping an eye on all things Portuguese and he was incredible. He scored 34 to collect the top scorer award and he already has 10 in 15 games this time round, which is more than three times the combined total of the current crop already at the Bridge.

In my mind there is no doubt that Mourinho should be doing everything in his power to sign the Colombia international, and if you don’t agree then you will after the video below.
