Arsenal beat Cardiff 3-0 at the Emirates this afternoon to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League – here are five things that we learned from the tie.
1) The Emirates is a hard place to go
This season Arsenal have played six home league games and won five of them, losing their opener 3-1 to Aston Villa. It seems a long time ago, that loss, as the Gunners have scored 13 goals along the way.
2) Arsenal can be ruthless
The north London side have often had a soft centre to them with a group of skilful players, but they are ripping through teams with ease at the moment. They pestered the Welsh side until the very last minute and took the opportunities that came their way.
3) Ozil is incredible
The Germany international now leads the way in the Premier League in terms of assists as he claimed another two in the clash. Ozil now has six assists and a further 23 key passes.
4) Gunners not scared to have a pop
In the 90 minutes Arsenal had 15 attempts on goal, three of which went in, three were on target and one hit the woodwork. Whenever they were in and around the box they were more than happy to have a dig.
5) Mertesacker is the boss
What a mountain the German really is – Mertesacker made 11 clearances, won three headers and made two tackles, as well as completing 54/56 (96%) of his passes.
