Arsenal’s search for a striker has seen them stumble across Corinthian’s frontman Pato, apparently, but it would seem that their initial £6.6m offer for the Brazilian forward was rejected – according to the Express. But what would they be receiving should the former AC Milan goal-getter arrive at the Emirates in January?
The most noticeable asset in his locker is his pace. Pato loves to drag defenders all over the place with his whippet-like speed and intelligent movement and would be a nice contrast to Olivier Giroud’s strong, meaningful displays. Pato is a strong player, also, who is always niggling at defenders and using his frame to ghost past them.
He’s capable in the air, on the floor and with his back to goal, and although he scored a handful of goals in his later years at Milan, he finished the most recent season in Brazil with 17 to his name.
Injuries have always been a problem for the 24-year-old, but should he steer clear of the problems with his body then he is a top, top player. He has represented Brazil on 25 occasions, scoring 10 goals, and is slowly but surely regaining the composure that he once had in and around the opposition box.
Pato has the potential to be the missing piece to the Arsenal jigsaw should he move to north London and would keep Giroud fresh for the exciting battle for the title.
