Despite Ilkay Gundogan currently watching his Borussia Dortmund team-mates from the sidelines, there seems to be a huge amount of interest in the Germany international. One of those clubs are Arsenal, and according to exclusive reports from Sports Direct News Borussia Dortmund are ready to accept an offer of around £25m for his services.
But should the north London club secure the signature of the 23-year-old, what will they be getting?
Gundogan is a midfielder who can play in any central position. He can sit in front the of the defence and pick off opponents’ attacks, but he is just as effective when pushed forward and deployed as a playmaker behind the forwards.
He’s played just once this season, but last year he was crucial to Dortmund’s success. He made 18 key passes in his 28 appearances and scored three Bundesliga goals, while also winning 51/64 of his attempted tackles.
He also won 64% of his 90 attempted take ons and completed an impressive 87% of his passes in the Black and Yellow midfield, leading the club to the Champions League final where they eventually lost out to fellow Germans Bayern Munich.
He’s an agile player who loves to carry the ball and would receive a warm welcome at the Emirate if he chose to join the club.
