After another goal-fest in the Premier League this weekend here is my team of the week. Please comment below to tell me anyone who should have been involved.
Goalkeeper
Vito Mannone – Sunderland
The Sunderland keeper kept gave the Black Cats hope as he kept a crucial clean sheet away at Aston Villa. Gus Poyet would have been thrilled with the performance of the former Arsenal man.
Defenders
John Terry – Chelsea
Terry put in a domineering performance against Southampton on Sunday afternoon and was awarded with a brilliantly-timed headed goal.
Seamus Coleman – Everton
Coleman also got on the score sheet this weekend as Everton trounced Stoke 4-0 at Goodison Park. He peculiar finish nestled nicely in the back of the net.
Joleon Lescott – Manchester City
Lescott’s future has looked clouded of late but he put in another fine display on Sunday against Swansea. Lescott made four interceptions during the tie.
Midfielders
Samir Nasri – Manchester City
The Frenchman has now scored four goals this season in what is turning out to be a brilliant season for him. He also won 4/5 of his take ons.
Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal
The Wales international was at it again this weekend as he went up against his former employers Cardiff. He scored twice and generally ran the game from the middle of the park.
Gareth Barry – Everton
Barry did everything in his power to stifle Stoke in their 4-0 victory and did a fine job. He made five tackles, went up for two headers and won 90% of his 70 attempted passes.
Bryan Oviedo – Everton
Another Toffee in the team of the week is the winger Oviedo. He scored one, claimed one assist and completed four crosses in the tie.
Strikers
Wayne Rooney – Manchester United
The England international scored his seventh and eighth goal of the season in United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham and he looked dangerous throughout. Moyes will be thrilled with his form so far this season.
Demba Ba – Chelsea
The Chelsea striker finally got off the mark in terms of league goals this season with a sliding effort to conclude the scoring in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Sunday.
Alvaro Negredo – Manchester City
The Spaniard is having a wonderful debut season in the Premier League and scored his sixth goal of the campaign with a well-taken goal against Swansea.
