If you believe the reports from talkSPORT, Angel Di Maria is ready to tell Arsenal and Manchester United that his future is in France and sign for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco. So, to see what the Premier League outfit were missing out on should the rumours turn out to be true, here is a brief player report on the Argentine.
Di Maria has been in impressive form this season despite competing for a place with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, making 25 key passes in 13 bit-part appearances that he has made in La Liga so far.
He’s only completed four full games, but his shot accuracy (65%) is something that is bettered only by young forward Alvaro Morata and summer signing Isco. Di Maria is a player who loves to take on an opposing full-back and whip balls into the box, but he’s equally happy to pull inside and have a pop at goal.
His ball retention is pretty good, though the ambition he carries is sometime his downfall as can often be caught out. However, he’s more than happy to track back and help out with the defensive side of the game, too, as his 86% tackle success suggests. He has won 19 of his attempted 22.
There’s no doubt about the 25-year-old’s talent and I, for one, am upset that I may not get the chance to see that over here.
