The Manchester United squad, on the whole, is a very impressive one. They have two of the best strikers in the Premier League and possess a wealth of options at the back, all while a Spain international operates in goal. But there is one area of the pitch that they are notably weak in, and that’s the midfield. For me, there is one man who fits the role that United are supposedly looking for, and that man is currently plying his trade with Chelsea.
Much has been made about Juan Mata’s season this time round after missing out on some of the early fixtures, but since coming back into the side he has reminded us all why he’s the two-time Chelsea Player of the Year.
In my eyes United need a creative player to link the midfield to the attack, and although I think Shinji Kagawa also fits the bill, David Moyes seems to only want the Japan international involved when they are in Europe.
Mata is a wonderful man to pull the two units closer together. While Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini do the dirty work in the deeper areas and Tom Cleverley injects the energy, United would have Mata and Kagawa to add the silk, the tricks and their inventiveness to supply Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
I think the Chelsea playmaker would be perfect for the Old Trafford side and he may be persuaded to join as he has had a tough start to the season.
United fans, what do you think?
