Manchester United are set to play their third home game in a row as they host Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in a clash that they must win to ease the pressure from David Moyes’ shoulders. The Ukrainian side are no slouches though, and United will have their work cut out should they pick up a victory. Here are a few things that I would do if I was David Moyes.
Firstly, I would be looking to get the best out of Javier Hernandez, as he holds the key to obliterating their backline. All five of the goals that Shakhtar have conceded in the Champions League have been from deep inside the box and there are few people better than exploiting that than Hernandez.
I would also say they need to attack through the middle. They have proved pretty limp on the wings so far this season and individually they have been poor. Nani, Ashley Young and Wilfried Zaha have made no impact and when you have Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa in the middle then you may as well use that.
Lastly, I would say that they need to attack from the off. The crowd are going to be waiting for something to justify their moans and groans and if they fail to start well then I fear that the tension will build.
