Manchester United seem to be in turmoil right now. They are plummeting down the table at an alarming rate and the pressure is piling on David Moyes’ shoulders. As they look at ways to rejuvenate themselves, the Guardian are linking United with a move to Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder in January. But I think there should be another man on the shortlist.
Mousa Dembele has been slated by a few Tottenham fans this season but for me he’s been brilliant. Whereas most focus on what he doesn’t do, like score goals, or the fact he doesn’t link up with Paulinho, they look over what he does do.
So far this season he has created 20 chances for his team-mates and completed 91% of his passes in his 14 appearances for the north London club.
The way he throws energy into his game is essential for topflight midfielders and is something that United don’t currently have. While Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are less than mobile, Dembele can burst around the central areas knocking balls to his colleagues and using his quick feet to create space.
He has won 30 tackles, 18 headers and won an incredible 36 of his 40 take ons, while hitting the target with all four of his shots.
Dembele has everything that Manchester United need and with the amount of talent Spurs currently have in the middle then perhaps he could be tempted.
