Draxler vs De Bruyne: Would It Be A Fair Swap? The Statistics

After reports from top German source SportBild saying there could be some sort of swap deal between Chelsea and Schalke for the services of Kevin de Bruyne and Julian Draxler, I thought that I would compare the two statistically. Who would get the better deal, if any?

Draxler is in fine form this season, scoring three in the Champions League and once in the Bundesliga, as well as making 20 key passes in both competitions combined. It is difficult to compare that to anything de Bruyne has done this term as he has hardly had a sniff, but that may be a sign in itself that Chelsea would be better off with Draxler.

Last season in the Bundesliga, whilst on loan with Werder Bremen, de Bruyne played 33 games and scored 10, while claiming 10 assist also. He made 85 chances on top of that and won 99 dribbles in that time, while Draxler scored 10, created 45 and made 79 take ons.

Draxler is two years de Bruyne’s junior so you could argue has the right to be behind de Bruyne technically, but the fact of the matter is both have so much potentially I would claim, and I don’t suggest this lightly, that both have the potential to be Ballon d’Or winners one day.

Draxler is the leading light at current club Schalke but if he was to leave the club then I don’t think there is any better replacement than de Bruyne.

Who is getting the better deal? I don’t think it would be a bad one for either, to be honest.
