THREE Tottenham Players Who Deserve To Be Dropped After West Ham Loss – Opinion

Despite sacking Andre Villas-Boas midweek, Tottenham fell to another home defeat to West Ham, this time in the League Cup. Two late goals from the Hammers saw them progress into the semi-finals of the competition and heaped more misery on their London rivals. Here are three players that I would drop from the Spurs side after the defeat, having been at the game in my White Hart Lane season ticket seat.

1) Aaron Lennon

The little winger really disappointed me last night. I was positive about him starting before the game because West Ham aren’t exactly the quickest side in the league, so I thought that perhaps he could open them up. I was wrong, and so were the Spurs coaches as he had next to no impact.

He was continuously crowded out of possession.

2) Jermain Defoe

It has frustrated me that people outside the Spurs circle have slated Roberto Soldado and claimed that Defoe is the answer to all our problems. The Spaniard has had little support all season and has still scored a hatful of goals, albeit only one from open play, but Defoe is greedy and wasteful, and it shows in his statistics.

From the five shots he had at goal, just one was on target.

3) Mousa Dembele

Although the Belgian has been impressive throughout this campaign he was not on song tonight and looked like he was lacking any spark. His passing was solid enough but his movement looked sluggish and his touch looked off – perhaps it’s time to give him a rest.
