According to most, Arsenal are in need of strengthening their frontline in January and it comes as no shock that the Daily Star are reporting the Gunners with a move for Auxerre forward Paul-Georges Ntep. But who is he, and what could he offer the north London side?
Still only 21 years of age, Ntep is a powerful striker who thrives in the air. With balls coming in from either flank he is a real threat to the opposition and can create space deep inside the box.
It’s easy to compare him to summer signing Yaya Sanogo, who also came from Auxerre.
Both are lanky in frame and quick off the blocks and both can finish under pressure.
Sanogo is possibly the stronger in his aerial duels with Ntep the one likely to burst past players, but they are very similar in aspects of their play.
Ntep was born in Cameroon but represents France at international level, something he has done for the U21 on seven occasions, scoring six goals.
He has scored a hatful of goals for the Auxerre B side and has established himself in the first team set up, but now could be the time he jumps ship and performs on a bigger stage than the French second division.
