How often have we read a negative article or piece of content relating to Manchester United’s feeble midfield this season? A lot, is probably the answer to that, but United fans should remain positive after reading the Daily Star’s reports that 24-year-old Everton Ribeiro could reject Real Madrid#s advances to bolster the Red Devils’ middle. But should he arrive at Old Trafford, what can we expect?
Ribeiro is a small, nippy player who enjoys ghosting between the lines of opponents and would provide Jose Mourinho a strong choice up top, rather than Fernando Torres who is still struggling to make a real impact up top.
The 24-year-old is in the prime of his life right now and has just concluded his Cruzeriro season with 15 goals in all competitions. He has a clever sense of awareness and is at his best when playing a slotted through-ball behind the opposition defence.
He will apparently cost £7m from the Brazilian side if the switch goes ahead, and if I was David Moyes then I would be going all out to capture his services.
He holds the energy levels needed to pull the midfield and the strikers together and the technique to make it look effortless. Ribeiro really is the real deal and I will be delighted if he comes to the Premier League.
