Manchester United climber further up the table with a 1-0 win over Norwich yesterday, and although they got the three points they certainly made hard work of it. Here are three things we learned from the tie.
1) United can grind out results
We’ve heard it hundreds of times before – winners are able to grind out scrappy wins despite things not going their way, as opposed to collapsing after throwing everything at the opposition.
United were outplayed in the first half and had their backs to the wall for a lot of the game, but like the warriors that they are they kept on going and they got their break through the man I am about to mention.
2) Welbeck can be a match winner
The England international has now scored four goals in four outings for the Old Trafford side and is proving his doubters wrong. His pace, power and his increasing composure in front of goal has seen him establish himself as a strong part of David Moyes’ plans.
3) Norwich still believe
Chris Hughton may have struggled to get his Canaries firing so far this season but they put up a good show at home yesterday and it will have given the fans hope of survival.
Norwich had 15 shots on goal against United, put in 27 crosses and made more tackles than the reigning champions.
