Manchester City have had a tought time at centre-back this season, but their attack has ensured that they are still firmly in the race for the title. Worry not, Manuel Pellegrini, as I am on hand to suggest three centre-halves that could bolster your backline this month.
1) Kurt Zouma – St Etienne
The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting prospect in European football right now and would surely be tempted with Champions League football and numerous trophies.
So far this term he has averaged 9.3 clearances per game, won 11 tackles and nine blocks.
2) Mats Hummels – Borussia Dortmund
We all know just how good a player Hummels is, but his form over the last year has slipped far away from what we are used to seeing from him. Dortmund are a side being picked apart right now – Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have both been taken by Bayern Munich, so they might be reluctant to let another big name go, but every player has his proce.
The 25-year-old has made 52 appearances in 10 Bundesliga games.
3) Mateo Musacchio – Villarreal
The 23-year-old is an exceptional talent. So far in La Liga he has played in 18 games, and he has been the rock that the club have needed to find the success that they have done so far, making 36 tackles, making 128 clearances and 60 interceptions.
He has youth on his side but he is already at a level which could benefit City hugely, in my opinion.
