Known for his colourful hair and his dynamic performances from right-back, Bacary Sagna has established himself as one of the most impressive defenders in the Premier League over the last few years, but it now seems that he could be on his way as Turkish outfit Galatasaray has supposedly been offered a whipping £4.1m per season deal.
The Daily Mail say that the full-back has had the offer made to him with his contract running out in the summer, but for me Arsenal need to do everything in their power to stop him leaving.
He’s an incredibly important player at the Emirates. Playing 17 league games in the league this season, Sagna has created 12 chances and averaged six defensive actions per game.
Despite now being 30 years of age, the France international still has pace in his boots and his positioning is second to none. The Gunners would have an extremely hard time trying to replace him should he leave the club, especially as he’d be going on a free.
Carl Jenkinson is a suitable short-term replacement, but is he good enough to secure the spot for the long haul? Not for me. He makes too many mistakes for a title-winning side and has been known to be caught out.
Sagna may be ageing, and he could want out of the club, but Wenger needs to do everything in his powers to keep him in north London, in my eyes.
