Manchester United Line Up £24m Midfield Ace, But What Type Of Player Is he?

To fill the gap you need a player with a bit of a physical presence but also be agile enough to skip through challenges high up the pitch.

You need a player who can shield the back four, watching the play but at the same time taking up a position where he can recycle the ball.

He has to be able to win headers but more importantly be capable with the ball at his feet and able to spray passes around the pitch. He must be able to display a range of passing too, both short and long, and be able to shift his body weight in order to shield it from opponents.

One man who fills all of that criteria, and much more, is Borrusia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, who the Mirror are now saying is being lined up by the Old Trafford side in a deal worth around £24 million.

The 23-year-old is the ideal player to come in and help United spark their season, despite the fact he hasn’t played a first team game for the Black and Yellows since August.
