There are a few players around Europe’s top leagues who are considered to be, quite frankly, a bit of a joke. You will probably have a few spring to mind right now. One that sticks out in the Premier League is Nicklas Bendtner, who over the last couple of years has been the butt of many puns. However, the last few weeks, before he was injured, he started to look like a potential back up plan to Olivier Giroud, scoring twice in a handful of games.
Was it a case of too little, too late? For me it most certainly was. That’s why I would suggest that the Gunners offload him as soon as they can, which right now looks to be the summer.
His replacement is the one man I believe to be perfect for the Emirates club – Mario Mandzukic. The Bayern striker has had an incredible run of form over the last two seasons and has been essential to the German club’s success.
Last season he scored 22 goals in his 40 games for the club and this season he has followed that up with 13 in 25.
He is a strong player who has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and you can see by his goals tally that his composure is second to none.
He’s good with his head, from range, from close and is willing to work hard, and with the arrival of Robert Lewandowski in the summer I would expect that a move may be feasible.
Sign him up, Arsene.
