Chelsea have two solid centre backs in Gary Cahill and John Terry. My only concern is that the pair are not getting any younger and I believe Mourinho would benefit from getting a young player, initially as back up, preferably with pace and experience of playing top-flight football in Europe.
When I read in The Daily Star that Mourinho has held talks with Kurt Zouma about a potential move in the summer, I thought to myself the move makes sense. The St Etienne Defender is just 19-years-old but plays regularly in Ligue 1 and has impressed with his tenacity, pace and footballing intelligence, Which is a rarity for such a young player.
Zouma also brings a physical presence, to add to his wealth of footballing ability. The defender is 6ft 3” and has all the traits to develop into a world class central defender.
Chelsea are not the only club who have shown interest in Zouma, Manchester United and Liverpool are also alleged to be admirers of the Frenchman and with Chelsea seemingly having the upper hand, it could be a perfect addition to Mourinho’s side.
