As a professional football player, there are certain boundaries that if crossed can cause some major upset. Leaving your club for their major rival is one. Sol Campbell did it when he left Tottenham for Arsenal, and Adebayor sort of did it when he ended up at Spurs after having a successful stint at the Gunners. Although this next case would be more similar to the latter, I think Arsenal should be moving for Dimitar Berbatov. Here are three reasons why.
1) Price
According to reports, Berbatov would be available for as cheap as £1.5m because of the fact his contract expires in the summer. Considering the amount of money players command these days, I think you’d agree that this would be a reasonable deal, even if it’s only a short-term agreement.
2) Magician
Berbatov is a magical player and has what it takes to mix it with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and the rest of them at the Emirates. His style of play would certainly compliment those already at the club.
3) Support
With only Olivier Giroud from the Arsenal strikers fit right now, Arsene Wenger has a problem. Does he look to splash out on another new name? Does he try Lukas Podolski or Serge Gnabry up top? Does he promote from within?
For me, Berbatov is the answer.
Bonus: Spurs fans
Spurs fans still hate him (on the whole) and what better way to win the Premier League title for the Arsenal fans than for him to help out?
