While many feel as though Chelsea should be chasing a big name forward this season, the Blues have apparently agreed a deal for another midfielder, according to ITV. The news comes after Jose Mourinho landed Nemanja Matic from Porto recently, although this player – Mohamed Salah of FC Basel – is far more offensive than the Serbia international. But what exactly can the 21-year-old offer?
He is a player who Mourinho and his advisers know all too well – the Egyptian has scored three goals in four appearances against the west London club, which is his best record against any side.
Salah can play in the middle of the pitch, though his ball control and the pace that he plays the game means that he is better on the wing, in my eyes anyway. He’s a tricky little player and is more than happy to take defenders on, and he’s also got an accurate delivery when it comes to getting balls into the box.
He played six games in the Champions League this season, scored two goals and created seven opportunities. He also racked up a shot accuracy of 63%from his eight strikes at goal.
Getting rid of Kevin de Bruyne and Juan Mata is a huge gamble from Mourinho, but if he is replacing them with players like Salah then it could very well pay off.
