Manchester United were in need of creativity in their midfield recently and they duly got it. Juan Mata was drafted in to Old Trafford to provide David Moyes’ men with an inventive hub, and has already shown his worth in just one game. Now, in my opinion, they need someone to play alongside Mata and co and keep the ball moving quickly whilst also operating as a box-to-box player. That may just happen too, as the Express are suggesting a move for Bayern Munich’s Tony Kroos could very well be on the cards.
Having seen him closely for the best part of three years now, I can tell you confidently that United fans should be excited about this signing, or at least the rumours.
If you need a ball-player, then they don’t come much better than the Germany international. This season he has completed 92% of his passes, created 22 chances and has proved to be a solid defensive outlet, winning 55% of his tackles and half of his headers.
The beauty of Pep Guardiola’s Bayern side is the fluidity in their play, and Kroos is a big part of that. When he picks up the ball not only can he pick out any player on the pitch, but he can also drive forward in possession and take players on – he was won 25/29 of his take ons this season in the Bundesliga.
Although he would obviously be cup-tied in terms of the Champions League, the 24-year-old holds a 95% pass completion rate in the competition this year and has played 10 key balls.
United fans, you should certainly be excited about this news and if you don’t believe me then watch this clip.
