Eden Hazard Proves To Be A Cut Above The Rest

Comments from Jose Mourinho regarding the potential of Eden Hazard sparked discussion across the country as to whether or not he can break into the top bracket of football that currently consists of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. For me, I think he can and his performance against Newcastle yesterday only confirmed my views on the little Belgian playmaker.

Still only 23, Hazard has established himself as one of the most exciting creative players in Europe and since the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge he has really stepped up a gear.

Yesterday he was again the difference for Chelsea as the Blues went on to thrash Newcastle 3-0 with Hazard scoring all three. Not only that though – he ran the Geordie side ragged throughout and was the creator of many chances.

He won 100% of his take ons, completed 81% of his passes and, as I mentioned, scored an incredible hat-trick. The first was a snap-shot in which he stroked it across the goal. The second was an even more impressive goal, as a beautiful stage of play with culminated in Samuel Eto’o back-heeling it into the path of Hazard before he caressed it into the bottom corner. The third was a confident penalty.

The hat-trick takes his Premier League goal tally to 12 for the season and he has now registered 62 key passes. For me he’s only going to get better, and there’s no reason why he can’t become the best in the world.
