With Fulham in such a mess at the moment, Manchester United fans will be expecting to send the Cottagers back to the capital without anything this afternoon. The Red Devils are in desperate need of all three points to keep their fight for a top four finish alive, but Fulham need the point to climb away from the bottom of the league. It won’t be an easy game for the hosts, but as long as they play to their strengths then I would think they can come through it unscathed.
The first thing that I would do if I was David Moyes is unleash Adnan Januzaj who was rested last time out. I would play him on the left with Juan Mata on the right in a 4-2-2-2 formation, as I feel they really miss him when he’s not in the side. He has the pace, the quick feet and the creativity to bring the best out of the strikers.
Secondly I would look to play a wide game, which ties in with the above point. Fulham’s full-backs have been almost non-existent this season and they have struggled to get the balance right between getting forward and keeping their defence shape.
Lastly, I would keep Tom Cleverley out of the side. He is a frustrating player to watch and for me offers very little in the middle of the park. If there is a game to experiment or to throw caution to the wind then it has to be this one, and I think dropping Cleverley would go some way to do that.
