When Manchester United confirmed that Wilfried Zaha would join the club this season there were a few murmurs, but on the whole United fans were pleased. Then when he led Crystal Palace to the Premier League the United faithful were excited, but still, that was only the Championship wasn’t it?
After an impressive pre-season tour, Zaha was seen by the fans as one to watch and their expectations boiled over. However, after thirty minutes of Premier League football for the Red Devils, a loan to Cardiff where he will stay for the rest of the season and now an apparent sly dig at United boss David Moyes, I wouldn’t be surprised if we never saw him in a United shirt again.
I wouldn’t be too disheartened though. Zaha has already showed us that his attitude can sometimes be inappropriate and he seems to want to run before he can walk. It’s easy to forget how young he is because of the time he has been impressing, but there are plenty of holes in his game.
He can be lazy getting back, he often looks to do too much on the ball and his crossing isn’t all that. For me he needs to keep his feet on the floor, impress with Cardiff while respecting those above him in the game and see if that gets him anywhere.
If not, then I believe he will never reach his potential in the game.
United fans, do you agree that Zaha wouldn’t be a massive loss to United?
