Being a Manchester United fan I have already given up on this season and am willing to put it down as a transitional period. David Moyes’ first season was never going to be easy, and although I didn’t expect it to be this miserable as it has turned out, I am willing to look past it and look forward to the World Cup and then next term. To do this though I feel we need a mass overhaul in the summer months.
The first thing I would do was get rid of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, who are both out of contract in the summer months, and build the defence around Phil Jones. He is a powerful player who is good with his feet and he continues to improve with every game, though once he settles into a permanent role then I think he will flourish.
Secondly I would look to sign Schalke’s 18-year-old starlet Max Meyer who is blossoming in the German topflight. He is a central attacking playmaker who has been known to drift out into the wide areas and he is in sparkling form right now.
He has scored five goals in his 17 league games and another in the cup, but it’s his creativity that is most impressive.
He would fit nicely with Adnan Januzaj and Juan Mata and would add some much needed inventiveness for the forwards.
