Brendan Rodgers has made it clear regarding the way he likes to set up his sides. As well as a desire for silky, well-thought out football, he has injected a wealth of youth into the side and he has certainly reaped the rewards of that, with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge shining this season.
He is apparently after another two, as well, as the Daily Mail say that the Reds boss is chasing Nottingham Forest centre-back Jamaal Lascelles and Sheffield United’s Harry Maguire who plays in the same position.
Chances are you don’t know much about the pair, so I have done some digging and combined it with what I already knew about them.
Both are English centre-backs and both are 20 years of age. They also share a style of play – both players are notably tall and are naturally strong, and although Maguire is a little more aggressive than Lascelles they are both players who like to play out from the back.
Maguire knows where the goal is, too – the former Barnsley defender has scored six for United this season.
I think if there is one Premier League club that the pair could thrive at, it’s Liverpool, as Rodgers certainly knows what he’s doing in that sense.
