No Ferdinand? How Manchester United Should Start vs Newcastle

Manchester United take on Newcastle today in a game that seems to have little meaning. The Red Devils still have an outside chance of finishing fourth, but it looks unlikely, and Newcastle’s season is pretty much over. Regardless, here is how I would set my side up if I was David Moyes.

I would go attacking to please the fans. I would have David De Gea in goal, Rafael at right-back and Patrice Evra on the left. In the middle I would stick with Nemanja Vidic and Phil Jones. Ferdinand played against Bayern Munich in the week but for me he is too slow.

On the right wing in my 4-3-3 I would have Ashley Young, who has been brilliant of late, and on the left I would have Adnan Januzaj. In the middle of them I would have Wayne Rooney, naturally, if he is available. If not, I would stick Javier Hernandez in from the start.

In the central trio I would have Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Tom Cleverley, although there isn’t a great amount of choice.

I don’t think Newcastle could beat that team, and it may give the United fans some hope that he is attacking from the off.

Who would you pick?
