According to Paddy Power’s latest odds, Chelsea are favourites to land Ross Barkley – Everton’s superstar midfielder. The 20-year-old has been exceptional this season and I for one would be delighted for him to join the club that I support. Here are three reasons why Chelsea need to go all out to secure a deal for the youngster.

1) Power

Despite his tender age, Barkley is a massively powerful individual who can mix it with the strongest in the Premier League.

On the ball he is able to shield possession, and off of it he can muscle people off it. That’s so crucial to the way Chelsea play, and I think he’d be great at Stamford Bridge.

2) Future of England

Should he sign for Chelsea, then the Blues would definitely get their money back even if he was to start slowly. Barkley is one of the most exciting players currently coming through the country’s system and we all know how much value that heaps onto a name.

3) Lampard replacement

Frank Lampard is someone who will not easily be replaced when he calls it a day. For me, Barkley is one of the few players who could do that, and dare I say it, surpass the midfielder’s success. Lampard scored his 250th club last week, so that wouldn’t be an easy thing to do.
