Arsenal & Chelsea Targeting Premier League Defender Who Averages 4.2 Clearances Per Game – Scouting Report

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Everton centre-back John Stones. The London pair are right to be chasing him, in my eyes, as he is a very promising player. The 19-year-old has a strong chance of making Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad after a season of sterling performances at the back for the Toffees.

But who is he, and what could he offer the pair?

He has made 17 appearances for the Merseyside club and has impressed massively. He’s a strong player who has the feel of a warrior about him, but he’s also very comfortable on the ball, as is the Roberto Martinez way.

This season he has averaged 4.2 clearances per game, averaged 1.1 tackles per game and has a pass completion of almost 90%.

Chelsea have Kurt Zouma coming in over the summer which will boost Jose Mourinho’s side despite it already being the strongest backline in the Premier League, but Arsenal are struggling at the back at present.

Per Mertesacker is one of the most reliable players in the division but Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen have struggled to show any sort of form this term.

For me, he’d be better off at Arsenal, considering Arsene Wenger’s past with youngsters.
